" Since two years ago, we've had three interactions with Connect Electrical, and each are worth five stars. The first was to install an external electrical point to power a water feature for the garden bought for my wife's birthday and was at very short notice. Next, they came out to replace the fuse box and do a full EIC both of which helped us to agree a sale of our house within four days of it going on the market. The surveyor for the buyers mortgage mentioned the high quality of the work in passing. Most recently, Connect Electrical came to the home we purchased to carry out a load of remedial work discovered on the survey we had carried out, to add another external power supply, to update the fuse box in the older part of the property and to tidy the "DIY" electrics in the roof. All the work was completed quickly and to a very high standard. During the roof work, Connect Electrical called me up to show something they had found that they rated as extremely dangerous - the previous occupants had closed a gas valve and then sawn off the pipe leaving about two feet of pipe exposed and a valve that could easily have been knocked by a small animal, bird, bat or careless footstep. It was sorted early within days. The point is that the electrical work had been missed by roofers, plumbers and a surveyor (it had been hidden under loft insulation that had been removed and piled on the end wall). In my previous review I wrote I'd use Connect Electrical again, I have and the standard has remained exceptionally high.

One final point I wanted to make was Connect Electrical mentioned a poor review they had received, and not knowing what to do about it. I had a look at it and was puzzled by three things: it was different from other reviews posted (and observations I've had from other tradesmen and businesses that deal with Conenct Electrical). Secondly, the reviewer seems to be based in the Midlands as most of his reviews are for work in that region. The one for Connect Electrical is the only one for a company based in East Anglia so was the review for the right company. Finally, if the review was for Connect Electrical it seems a bit harsh. The Government determines whether VAT needs to be charged on a service. The average cost of an EIC is about £80. However, if you factor in the cost of a 250 mile six hour round trip the price will increase and an extra £70 seems low rather than high. Similarly, while a job might take two days to complete, if you hire a small company from over 100 miles away there will be additional costs in travel, accommodation, subsistence and securing a vehicle overnight so again the quote doesn't seem unreasonable.

The provider of our new electric fire recommended that we used Connect Electical to install a socket close to the fireplace. A recommendation from a trusted supplier is worth at least one star on its own, and it was obvious during the installation that the skilled tradesmen had worked together before. Connect Electrical were thoroughly professional providing a quotation we found acceptable, arriving on time and completing the job they were hired to do. That put them up to three stars. However, I had some other minor electrical tasks I wanted to get them to quote for while they were there. Not only did they provide a quote, but they offered to do the work immediately. To illustrate the quality of the work, one thing I noted was the quick check using a small spirit level to make sure everything was square. It was, of course, but that little touch showed the quality of their work. They'e now up to four stars. The final star was some advice they provided about our 23 year old fuse box. Not touting for trade, just a friendly "You might want to consider...". Would I recommend them? Yes, emphatically YES!!! Will I try and engage them again? Definitely. I was mightily impressed. Five stars and worth every one. Outstanding work, tremendous customer satisfaction, sound advice, good pricing – no wonder they were recommended. A damn fine job - thank you. "
